Lake Buena Vista, FL The AAU Baton Committee is proud to present Ashley Bishop with the 2012 Joel Ferrell Outstanding Performance Memorial Award at the 2012 AAU Junior Olympic Games.

This award is named after former AAU President and Vice President of the US Olympic Committee, Joel Ferrell. Ferrell was chair of the AAU Junior Olympic Program for many years and was very instrumental in the growth of these Games. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding accomplishments and sportsmanship of an athlete representing each official sport at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

Bishop is a 17-year-old AAU Baton participant from Cooper City, Florida.  She has won AAU National titles in beginning baton, international baton, and solo dance twirl and has also participated in Women of Tomorrow Member NBTA, World Team Participant in 2009 and 2012.

Although Bishop loves competing in the sport of Baton Twirling, she was crowned Miss Mavorette of the Southeast, and was the first ever feature twirler of Cooper City High School. She plans to attend Tallahassee Community College in the fall and twirl for the Marching Chiefs.

The AAU Baton Committee would like to congratulate Ashley and wish her luck in her future endeavors.
